‘Ballyhoo Arts’ originated in Hampshire. It is now based in Monmouthshire, South Wales. We continue to work in Hampshire and nationwide. Our key word is BIG and our aim is to provide arts projects that incorporate giant puppets and other large structures, in particular for outdoor events.

We work with a variety of schools and community groups to build the puppets or structures and, where possible, incorporate them into a performance or procession.

Ballyhoo Arts was founded by Kathy Young and Jane McGibbon in 2002. It is now led by Kathy Young from Abergavenny in Monmouthshire.

Kathy Young has over 20 years experience as a professional arts worker, initially as a performer, then as a director of community based theatre, a workshop leader and a project manager. Over the years, a long term commitment to cross artform work, maskmaking and maskusing developed into an interest in outdoor theatre projects and GIANTS.

Kathy Young was awarded an MA in Performing Arts from Middlesex University in 1999.
